Privacy

When you sign in with Google, Discord or Facebook we receive your display name, an avatar URL and the provider's user id. We store those in a signed cookie in your browser and use them to show who you are. We do not receive or store your email address, contacts or anything else, and we do not link accounts across providers.

Radio audio on this site is public broadcast received off-air. It is not a record of any person's private communication.

When you save a span we keep it, with the name you give it, against your sign-in id until you delete it on the Saved page. A saved span has a link. Anyone who has the link can play the span without signing in: the channels you saved and the aircraft tracks for that time. The link's page does not say who saved it, saved spans are not listed or searchable anywhere, and we ask search engines not to index them. Deleting a saved span ends its link.

If you write to us through the contact page, your message, display name and sign-in id are kept as a conversation on our Discord server so that we can reply.

If you buy a term, the payment is taken by Stripe on its own page. Stripe asks for your email address, for the receipt, and your card details; we receive neither. We keep, against your sign-in id, the date your trial began, the terms you bought and Stripe's reference for each payment. Deleting your account deletes those from us, but for the one thing set out under "Deleting your data" below. Stripe keeps its own record of the payment, as the law requires of it, under its privacy policy.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account yourself, at any time, whichever provider you signed in with:

1. Sign in at read5.net.
2. Open your account page (your name, at the top right; in the menu on a phone).
3. Choose "delete my account" and confirm.

That deletes, straight away: every span you saved, with its link; your conversation with us from the contact page; your sign-in id from our access lists; the terms you bought; and the cookie in your browser. Copies of a saved span that other people made into their own accounts are theirs and stay.

One thing is kept, for 12 months, and then deleted by itself: the date your free trial began, stored under a scrambled form of your sign-in id (a keyed hash) from which the id cannot be read back. It is there only so that deleting an account and signing in again does not start a second free trial, and it is used for nothing else. If you sign in again within those 12 months, your trial is counted from that first date.

If you cannot sign in, write to us on the Read5 Discord or by the contact page from another account, with the provider and the name you used, and we will delete it for you within 30 days. Removing Read5 from the apps connected to your Google, Discord or Facebook account stops future sign-ins; it does not by itself delete what is here, which is what the steps above are for.

If a saved span you have been sent, or one you believe exists, should be taken down, write to us through the contact page or the Read5 Discord with its link.
