Terms of service

Read5 records and replays air-band radio received off-air, with aircraft tracks beside it. It is operated by James Phillip Vella in Perth, Western Australia. By signing in and using the site you agree to these terms.

What you get

Signed-in users may listen to the recordings and watch the traffic for their own learning and training, including in the course of their work: a student, an instructor or a flying school is as welcome as an enthusiast. The service is provided as-is, with no guarantee of availability, completeness or accuracy. Recordings and tracks may have gaps, timing errors or missing channels, and may be removed at any time. Neither the audio nor the traffic is an official record: do not rely on it to fly.

Saving and sharing

Signed-in users may save spans of the recordings, up to the storage their account allows, and share a saved span by its link. Anyone with the link can play it without an account, so give it only to people you mean to have it. You are responsible for whom you share a link with and for whether sharing a recording is lawful where you and they are; rules on passing on radio traffic differ between countries. Do not use saved spans to harass anyone or to identify and pursue individuals. Aircraft positions come from adsb.lol under the Open Database License (ODbL 1.0); a shared span carries that attribution and the data in it remains under that licence. We may remove a saved span, and its link, at any time, including on a reasonable request from someone heard or tracked in it.

Trial, paying and refunds

A new account may use Read5 free for 14 days. No card is asked for, and nothing is charged when the trial ends. After it, listening needs a term: 3 months for A$20, or 12 months for A$50. Prices are in Australian dollars. A term is paid for once and does not renew: we never charge you again unless you buy again. A term bought before your time has run out is added to the end of it. Your account page shows the day your time ends.

Payment is taken by Stripe; we never see or hold your card details. When your time runs out your saved spans and their links are kept, but you cannot save more than a trial account may keep until you buy another term.

Refunds: if you ask within 14 days of buying a term, we will refund it in full, whatever the reason. Ask through the contact page. The refund goes back to the card or account you paid with, and the term's time comes off your account. After 14 days a term is not refunded for a change of mind, but you keep the rights the Australian Consumer Law gives you, including a remedy if the service has a major failure. Deleting your account does not refund the time left on it.

Accounts

Sign-in is through Google, Discord or Facebook. We may suspend or remove access at our discretion, in particular for breaches of these terms. You can stop using the site at any time; signing out clears the session cookie. See the privacy page for what we store.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, Read5 and its operator are not liable for any loss or damage arising from use of the site or reliance on its content. Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded. These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia.

Changes

These terms may change as the site gains features. Material changes will be noted on this page. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
